Introducing Jacqueline from Rise & Thrive

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

My name is Jacqueline Noble but most people know me as Jackie. I worked as a Registered Nurse for 13 years, in 2013, I returned to complete my Grad Dip in Psychology. In 2014, I gave birth to my first son, and in 2015, started my Post Graduate Psychology training. I was a Provisional Psychologist for 4.5 years before gaining General Registration mid 2019. I currently work in Private Practice. During my studies I gave birth to my second beautifully busy boy and it was after this I became interested in Perinatal Mental Health.

I didn’t feel like myself, I was not enjoying parenting like I thought I would, I felt out of control of my emotions, especially anger, I didn’t want to admit I needed help. I thought that I was a competent person, I did well at work and wondered why I felt like I wasn’t a good enough mum. Being a nerd I read books, listened to podcasts, talked to family and friends but I couldn’t find the answers I was looking for. I just couldn’t find my sparkle. I knew there must be a better way and once I finished my Psychology training, Katherine and I decided we needed to create workshops where mums can come together, talk and share their experiences and learn some strategies to manage day to day.

I make up half the Rise & Thrive duo, Katherine Jones is our Educator who helps bring all the content together and present it in a way we can all digest. Our idea for a business helping mums manage their emotional well being started 2 years ago when we realised there were not many services available for mums after the first 12 months of baby's arrival, even less for second, third, forth time mums. Yet as we spoke to friends, family and professionals there seemed to be no end of mothers finding it tough.

During the planning phase of the business there were so many times I could have walked away. It was hard, especially when it was unknown if this would take off, we spent hours away from our families preparing and planning to finally launch in September 2019. That was both exhilarating and nerve racking because this was it we were live! The best part about running our own business is getting to work with my best friend, we get to bounce off each other and when one is struggling the other can be the motivator to keep on going. What does 2020 look like for Rise & Thrive… spending time with more mothers, listening to their stories, connecting with their struggles and guiding them to find their sparkle.

We know motherhood is hard, it can be triggering, you can feel exhausted, isolated, alone, confused and not be able to think straight.
